Brazilian President leaks that Fidel Castro has cancerThe Cuban dictator may not come back to power, for his tumor in the abdomen is malignantLuis Inacio da Silva, or Lula, as the Brazilian president prefers to be called, has just been responsible for a very serious leak about Fidel Castro's true health state. The newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo has not respected a wish from the Brazilian government and released the information they got thanks to their good sources close to the president. They have published today that Lula talked over the phone with Felipe Pérez Roque, the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs - and most expected successor of Fidel, after the dictator's brother has his stint at a possible transition government - and was told that Castro has really gone into surgery because of a bleeding at the intestine area, but that the bad news is an advanced cancer at the abdomen. Lula was irresponsible enough to tell several other "soudruzi" from
his Worker's Party the details of this Friday's talk. He on top of
that acted emotionally, calling three former dissidents, who, hiding
from the Brazilian military junta in the 1970s, were being trained in
Cuba for a possible counterrevolution, which never happened, thus have
ties with "El Comandante". One of them, the president's closest friend
and advisor, Jose Dirceu, has left the president's room crying and
pronouncing that Fidel will "resist"...
That's what happens when an international secret is shared with non-reliable people. Important to note that Folha de Sao Paulo is considered one of the most professional and neutral of South American newspapers, proud to have a nickname of "the bishops" among local dailies, so they would not publish irresponsible speculations and would not risk such a huge "kachna" as announcing that Fidel has cancer and may not come back to power if they were not absolutelly sure that that is really the case. |
