EU will give personal data to USQuietly, EU Commission approves that U.S. will get our personal information White House will be allowed to know even if you are gay... The European Commission, without any publicity, press releases or the typical fanfare around such important decisions, approved an agreement this Monday which gives the U.S. unprecedented access to the personal information of everyone flying from Europe, including their sexual orientation! |
The request by the U.S. to get these data was defended as a necessary tool to fight terrorism. But what sexual orientation may have to do with it is a mystery. Perhaps the White House thinks that gays would not explode themselves in the name of Allah, because they would not be interested in the thousands of virgins promised as a reward... The agreement adds 19 new questions the U.S. will have answered by European Union countries, like ethnic origin, political affiliation (!!), credit card numbers, trade union membership (!!), sexual orientation and details of the passengers' health. The information will have to be provided by passengers when making bookings. The U.S., on the other hand, will not provide this information about its citizens. Unlike Europe, there the civil and judicial societies would make a huge fuss against such intrusion into their personal lives. There is no limitation to what American authorities can do with the information or how long they can hold it. The European Parliament was not informed about the final draft of the plan and they went into recess last week, so it is an appropriate time to sign the agreement without getting politician's backlash. |
