Spanish film takes Karlovy Vary's Crystal Globe

The Mosquito Net, by Spanish director Augusti Vila, won the Crystal Globe at the 45th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The Karlovy Vary festival belongs to the so-called "A" category, like Cannes, Berlin, Vienna, Lugano and Toronto.
Besides the Spanish film, were also awarded Crystal Globes Russian director Nikita Michalkov and Slovak director Juraj Herz for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema. Kooky, by Czech Oscar-winning director Jan Sverak, earned the Special Jury Prize. British actor Jude Law received a special prize awarded by the festival.
A German, French, Swiss and Romanian co-production titled 'Aurora' by Romanian director Cristi Puiu won the East of the West section.
Other prizes handed out include:
Best Director: Rajko Grlic, Just Between Us (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia).
Best Actress: Anaïs Demoustier, Sweet Evil (France)
Best Actor: Mateusz Kosciukiewicz and Filip Garbacz, Mother Teresa of Cats (Poland)
Documentary (long): Familia by Mikael Wiström and Alberto Herskovits (Sweden). Documentary (short): The River by Julija Gruodiene and Rimantas Gruodis (Lithuania). The nine-day festival showed more than 200 films in two dozen sections.
