Paroubek "Left Social Democrats a Huge Debt"
31. 5. 2010 / Štěpán Kotrba
According to insider's information from a very reliable source from ČSSD, who wished to stay anonymous, Jiří Paroubek, plus his collaborators Petr Dimun and Jaroslav Tvrdík, left the party a bill of about 800 million Czech crowns, spent since his team took power over the Social Democrats (referring to the campaigns for the parliament in 2006, regional elections also in 2006, Senator's race of 2008, European elections of 2009, the anticipated, later suspended general elections of 2009 and the latest for 2010). The Social Democratic Party has not confirmed these assertions.
The Social Democrats should quickly submit to the party's leaders and even to its members all the numbers related to the election campaings done by Paroubek and his team, including how was used and paid back loans, plus inform the financial situation of the joint-stock company "Cíl" and other firms, which ČSSD owns and in which the party has, for example, a series of properties are used as guarantee.
.If the new party leadership doesn't want to take responsibility for Paroubek's administration of party's funds, then it will have to know how to wipe the dust out from their headquarters. For a long time Tvrdík's campaigns exceeded what was received from the State.
It is necessary to refute (or confirm) the stories that Paroubek gave the party's headquarters -- the so-called People's House (Lidový dům) -- as a guarantee. The party's members have the right to know who did what with their money. The Social Democratic party doesn't belong to Havlíčkova or Paroubek, but to its members. There was already a problem with the party's finances in the past, when the then deputy leader Ivo Svoboda wanted to sell the piece of land, where an Austrian firm built the hotel Millenium Plaza (Marriot) in the very close vicinities of the Lidový dům.
