ČSSD's "New Style"
28. 6. 2010 / Štěpán Kotrba
Think about it, who am I talking about? Mrs Unknown candidated for the post of deputy chairman of the Social Democratic party. That no one knows who she is? For the new leadership of ČSSD it seems to not matter. Mrs Nováčková ("nová" in czech is "new" in english) came from municipal politics, brought by the decision of the party faction called Social Democratic Women -- a group whose activities nobody outside of ČSSD has ever heard from since the time when Jana Volfová left it.
Ever since the Social Democratic Women started being coordinated by another Miss Unknown, Jindřiška Maršová, the activities of that organization are invisible to the "common" citizen and ČSSD voters.
There has been absolutely nothing about Nováčková in the media this past year. There is no interest in the opinions of this municipal council member. She herself doesn't tell much about herself. Probably she hasn't much what to tell the public. The same about the Social Democratic Women (SDŽ).
Albeit Dr. Hana Zelenková-Nováčková (*18.12.1951), owner of Ostravan security agency and cleaning services company IPO, is an experienced municipal politician (she became a council member already from 1990), neither the people from her party nor the public outside Ostrava know much about her. All thoughout this past year the media hasn't mentioned her even once.
At the same time, her companies have about 800 employees. And very skillfully she learned, in her 20 years in regional politics, how to maneuvre well to win local government-ordered deals. During the whole time Nováčková has been in the Ostravan council, her IPO agency got to be in charge of the security of various State buildings: the Regional Authority headquarters, the Ostrava's 3rd Revenue Offices, the County Authority for Social Security in Karviná, of the Havířov Technical Services offices, the Unemployment Bureau in Ostrava... That's something that the critics of conflict of interests won't accept.
"Her personal experience as a teacher and with the business world and politics is unique in the world", SDŽ chairwoman Jindřiška Maršová contends, surprisingly praisefuly, about Nováčková.
Every party has the kind of fate and representatives they themselves choose.
