WHAT'S ON BRITSKÉ LISTY

In reaction to the article "Separation of Church and State?" from Štěpán Steiger I would like to call your attention to an erroneous information that has been repeated many times in our media. Bishop Václav Malý's statement, which the Council Iustitia et Pax (Justice and Peace) carries, is not an official statement by the Czech Bishop Conference.

A Czech version of this article is in CLICK HERE

The Czech Bishop Conference decided to officially "not make any special statements about the elections, but it approves the text of the [above-mentioned] pray" and is now "distancing itself from the statement on the Council Iustitia et Pax", writes Marek Chlup.

From the text written by Václav Malý itself, which I have taken a look over, I don't have the feeling that it has strongly said one should vote for small parties. Just that many of the promises being made by our bigger parties do not seem very believable to the Bishop. What he writes about small parties is:

"It is possible to assume that more than ever before the attention of voters will be aimed at smaller parties. An attentious voter perhaps finds a responsible long-term vision even in the political program of those small parties."

The second line from text above can be labeled to a certain level as support to small parties. Nonetheless, what can we expect from a Bishop whose name is Malý [small in Czech / note of the editor] :-)
