Protest: Americký senát zrazuje americké Čechy
Češi byli několikrát v nedávné historii zrazeni a prodáni do otroctví. V roce 1938, v roce 1948, v roce 1968...

CZECH PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BETRAYED AND SOLD INTO SLAVERY SEVERAL TIMES IN RECENT HISTORY. In 1938, in 1948, in 1968... Now they are being publicly betrayed by the U.S. SENATE, who is not allowing itself to seriously debate the Czech government's entry into NATO. 30.000 of Czech refugees from Nazism and communism, now U.S. CITIZENS, are to become victims again, many of them for the THIRD TIME! in their lives...
Major newspapers in U.S. cities called yesterday on the U.S. SENATE not to rush into the decision... CZECH REPUBLIC, to this very day as the only post-communist government invited into NATO, will get into this exclusive alliance not on the merit of its own, but simply on the tailcoats of more democratic, more freedom and civic- rights -for- all-respecting countries:Poland and Hungary.
U.S. SENATE at this point is NOT PRESSURING! the Czech government to return Czech citizenship to 30.000 Czech-born U.S.Citizens deprived of their natural human rights on the teritorry of their native land.
The following poem is dedicated to MY PEOPLE! MY 30.000 CZECH-BORN CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, who, till this very day, because of fault not of their own!,remain publicly, both openly and behind-the- scenes , furtively, persecuted by those, who once ran them out of their native country...
They, till this very day, C A N N O T C O M E H O M E ...
May they be assured, that myself and my associated will NEVER FORGET THE INJUSTICE PERPETRATED ON THEM, ALL OVER AGAIN, in these heady days of PEACE, PROSPERITY, AND UNEQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL...

AN ABANDONED HOTHOUSE
by Jirina Fuchs
Rows of roses
like lines of men
whom someone bade to stand ready
but who - before the onset of the battle - have been told
NOT to fight
So they stand
in full armor
taller than the weedy circle of enemies
furiously crowding around their ankles
In bitter rage
carefully sharpened thorns
pierce the warm air
The glowing enthusiasm
which first made the blooms glow red an hot
evaporates day by day
The intoxicating fragrance of overpowering sweetness
daily threatens to burst to the sky
and demolish the hothouse
But every night
stealthily and invisibly
a slight waft of a decay-like odor
little by little encircles the fragile stalks
furiously strangles their unspent beauty
and one by one
wrestles the rusting swords
from their
endlessly waiting
DEATH TIRED!
hands...
(1968. Dedicated to my people this March 20, 1998.)

Mexičané právě získali k velkému ekonomickému prospěchu právo na dvojí občanství
Los Angeles Times, March 20, 1998:
MEXICO's DUAL NATIONALITY OPENS DOORS
by JAMES F. SMITH, TIMES STAFF WRITER
Law: Measure that takes effect today wont' grant voting rights, but it lets U.S. citizens invest in their homeland.
(Zkraceno)
* Mexican law takes effect allowing Dominguez and millions of Mexican-born Americans and their children to hold Mexican nationality as well as U.S. citizenship.
*The Nationality Act revokes the previous rule that took away Mexican nationality from those who became citizens of another country. Furthermore, the new act broadens eligibility for nationality to include children of Mexican-born people.
*"This will enhance the economic mobility of both countries..."
*"I believe this is part of the broader process of growing commercial, cultural, and personal flows between Mexico and the United States."
* Direct investment, with its job-creating and skills-building potential, could become more productive for Mexico than mere cash remittances that simply boost production.
"Very highly skilled people now can come back to Mexico to work and share their skills." said Miguel Angel Gonzalez Felix, a senior Foreign Ministry official who helped craft the law...
* "There will be many more bridges of understanding that have existed in the past.."
* "the Mexican government had to find a way TO KEEP IT FROM BEING A STIGMA, A S I N , to take on U.S. nationality..." Carrillo Castro said.
* "People here are realizing a resurgence of identity, (that) their votes DO MATTER, (that) their leaders are becoming elected. They don't feel like SECOND CLASS CITIZENS ANY MORE."
"The Mexican government "has become more open and accepting of the importance of the Mexican peopleLIVING IN THE UNITED STATES AND HAS BEEN TREATING THEM WITH MORE RESPECT."
* "I SEE THIS AS A GREAT MOMENT," said Jose Angel Pescador Osuna, Mexico's Consul General in Los Angeles, heartland of the diaspora. "It reprrsents a historic gesture TOWARD MEXICAN IMMIGRANYTS AND MEXICAN AMERICANS."
*** "THEY CALLED ME STUPID AND A D R E A M E R, but now it has happened, and there are 5 million Mexicans in the United States who are going to receive this with great pride and satisfaction BECAUSE IT IS TIME THEY RECOGNIZED US.", said Jose Chapa, 73-year old, one of the most vocal activists for DUAL CITIZENSHIP.
*PRESIDENT ZEDILLO IS FINALLY SEEING US WHAT WE ARE, AS MEXICANS who are working for our country ABROAD, working for our families and THE WELL0BEING OF OUR COMMUNITIES.....
MEXICO IS OUR A N C E S T R A L HEARTLAND, WE LOVE MEXICO, WE LOVE UNITED STATES... THIS IS O U R "CASA!" TOO!
